Task 6 - Intertextuality

Task 6 - Intertextuality

For are research, we also looked at intertextuality. Intertextuality is a way of making on form of texting and presenting or interpreting it in another way. Intertextuality is used in all sort of ways, especially in the forms of media and music videos. It was first used and introduced by Julia Kristeva in 1966.

It's been used in array of different things, for example, I have used this Rizzle Kicks video of their song 'Lost Generation' to analyse how intertextuality is used in this video. For instance, use of intertextuality in this video has incorporated the theme of using 'Britains Got talent' buzzer theme within it. And also uses the Jeremy Kyle & Big Brother which incorporates the video. Using one form of media and presenting it in another way is clear within this video.

I will create a power point and create another blog post of analysing another video which uses intertextuality within the contents of the video.

Task 5 - Lip Sync

Task 5 - Lip Sync

To look into our research and further development of music videos and how they are created, I and my class was assigned to a lip syncing task in which we had to select any song of our choice, lip sync it, and edit the video with the program: iMovie.

Verdict on editing with IMovie

I feel the program was a bit uneasy to use, but I did get the grips of using in the end, especially with the basic uses of the software with the editing, although the video is unfinished. The reason for this is because I felt by using a program i'm familiar with editing before i.e Adobe Premiere Pro, and use that for my edits later on. IMovie got a bit complicated and not as accurate to be able to try and sync things in the way you wanted them to.

I have used Premiere Pro before, so I am comfortable using that and it's basics. I did like using IMovie, but I feel Premiere Pro will be a lot more beneficial and accurate to edit videos with in my own personal experience.

Task 4 - Auteur Theory

Task 4 - Auteur Theory

In lesson, we where learning about the Auteur Theory. I decided to create a prezi powerpoint on the theory, to make it my blog a little more interactive and use a variety of different programs throughout the development of my blog. Here is my prezi powerpoint on Auteur Theory:

Task 3 - Music & Me!

Task 3 - Music & Me!

As part of my development and research throughout this part of the course, I have been asked to make a blog on music I like from childhood and to the present day. Here are some songs with a bit of explanation:

Limp Bizkit - Rollin'

This was one of the stick out songs in my childhood. I remember when ever this song came on, I would do the dance which was included in the video and sing along. Limp Bizkit was one of the first bands I listened to growing up!

Calibre - Notting Hill

When growing up with listening to many genre's, I came across a genre which I know I will listen to for the rest of my life and is what I listen to every day without fail: Drum & Bass. One of my favourite producers in the genre and legend with this tune 'Notting Hill' by Calibre. The raw emotion and positive energy of Drum & Bass makes it my all time favourite genre. Smashing vibes!

Napoleon - Of Jams, Smokes & Promises

I listen to Drum & Bass a whole lot, but I always listen to others. One of my favourite genre's apart from D&B is the genre's such as Hardcore. I listen to many band within the genre but Napoleon are my favourite. With their complexity and passionate rhythms, they are just quality. One of their newer ones but one of my favourite tracks!

Task 2 - History Of Music Videos

Task 2 - History Of Music Videos

As part of this task, I will be looking at the history of music videos. Music videos today have evolved from the countless creations from the 20's, all the way up to now. I have created a powerpoint outlining the history of music videos:

Task 1 - Music Video Analysis What Makes an Effective Music Video?

Task 1 - Music Video Analysis + What Makes It An Effective Music Video? (Linkin Park 'Burn It Down')

As part of the development and research throughout this part of the A2 Media course, we have been assigned to a task to analyse music videos. This will help to organise us for what we need to do and look at the different kinds of styles that a video has to offer and how it relates to the song or not.

In this instance, I have chosen Linkin Park's 'Burn It Down' music video. The reason as I have chosen it because I enjoy the visual aesthetics which accompany the video which make it appealing overall. With the use of CGI and video editing techniques it makes the video pop and be a lot more vibrant and more memorable to the viewer. The video to me represents a lot toward the lyrics, and the style of it. A lot of the lyrics within the video are visualised within the video and I think this is great as an impacting factor. |

The video definitely delivers a sense of wow especially with the use of CGI as stated as  it connects with the modern use of todays technology and how technology and CGI is influencing a lot of today's modern music videos within this kind of style in music genre and a few other genre's also.

Introduction Post - Intro To Media A2

Introduction To Media A2

Hello, and welcome to my media A2 blog!

After recently completing the AS course in media studies within the year, we are progressing onto A2 by creating music videos for our coursework.

Like our AS blog, this blog with be used for research that will be used for our music video so we can then implement into our music video. Since this is completely different to creating a music magazine, it will be a hard challenge to take, but I feel that I will learn a lot more about this course ahead and be happy with what I create. From completing AS, I do feel confident but also fairly nervous about the work ahead as I know that A2 is a step up from AS and I will have to be a lot more committed and reach deadlines, etc. I will be working in groups so it will be handy but also vital for our grades. I can't wait to see how it all turns out throughout the year!
